The Apolonia Foundation began operations on September 27, 2018,
as a private non-profit foundation.
The best specialists
Our foundation is constantly inviting the best specialists in the world to give lectures in the auditorium of Clínica Odontológica San Sebastián (COSS). It has also achieved a professional exchange with the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Zürich (Switzerland) and during the months of October 2019 to January 2020 we received Professor Christoph Hämmerle from the same university as a visitor.
Our activities
April 2024 – Dr. Manuel Sancho and Dr. Raquel Guijarro (Spain) are invited to Chile to hold an Orthodontics and Orthognathic Surgery Conference with Drs. Felipe Illanes and Rolando Carrasco (Chile) in the COSS auditorium. The foundation sponsored this two full-days educational event.
March 2024 – Dr. Valentina Jordán is awarded a scholarship to stay at the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry at the University of Zurich during the months of March, April and May.
March 2024 – Visit from our international advisor Dr. Richard Lazzara, who gave a conference on the relationship between systemic and oral pathologies.
September 2023 – Dr. Naida Gadzo, the fourth Swiss scholarship recipient, did an internship and presentations at COSS and visited the postgraduate course in oral rehabilitation at the Catholic University, the postgraduate course in implantology at the Universidad del Desarrollo and the San Felipe Hospital, invited by Dr. Franco Cavalla.
July 2023 – Visit and Lecture by Dr. Albert Chan (U. Michigan/U. Ohio) at San Sebastián Dental Clinic.
January 2023 – Fundación Apolonia awards two new scholarships. Dr. Maite Souyet begins the collaboration program with the University of Michigan, doing a 3-month stay. On the other hand, Dr. Paulina Barrientos attends the University of Zurich for the same period.
June 2022 – Dr. Jaime Charad, Dr. Daniela Orellana and Dr. Paulina Barrientos attend the 14th Symposium of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry in Boston and visited the Department of Periodontology at the University of Michigan in search of a new collaborative program between this department and our Foundation.
April 2022 – The collaboration program with Universidad de los Andes begins by welcoming Dr. Ljubitza Derpich to complete her three-month scholarship in the area of Radiology at COSS
October 2021 – New scholarship recipient at Clínica Odontológica San Sebastián, Dr. Roman Schellenberg, graduate of the postgraduate course in Reconstructive Dentistry at the University of Zurich.
March 2021 – Second Fundación Apolonia scholarship recipient Dr. Daniela Orellana completes an internship at University of Zurich, Switzerland.
January 2021 – First Apolonia Foundation Scholar from the University of Zurich to do an internship at Clinica Odontologica San Sebastian. Dr. Lukas Stucki.
October 2019 – Visit and talk by our international advisor Prof. Dr. Christoph Haemmerle.
International agreements
The student exchange from the Graduate Program in Reconstructive Dentistry from University of Zurich has been active since 2014. Professionals from Switzerland have visited our country to share their knowledge and provide training to professionals in Chile. 3 Chilean Postgraduates completed a 3 months internship at Zurich University.
